coming up on two years ago, mike and i received some rather unconventional wedding gifts from our dear friends jim, paul and deuce. at the time i laughed and enjoyed the drawing of how to properly use them, but still wondered when in fact we would actually make use of our new super soakers. normally mike just shoots me from the spare bathroom as i'm sitting on the chair and a half and i get mildly upset, but last friday night, their true purpose was revealed.
it started out as a typical enchilada party starring the usual suspects, ham and the newlyweds. we were having a fabulous time, eating too much and enjoying our respective beers, shots o maker's mark, pre-mixed smirnoff cosmos (which i highly recommend as it were) and a lovely champagne toast. then, somewhere after the screening of the new film sensation "news" starring Mike Headrick, there erupted a small confrontation between mike and takash where in i believe h suggested mike "get the super soaker." well it doesn't even take one beer for mike to hop to that one, so you can imagine his zest after about 5 and subsequent bouts with the whiskey bottle. and thus began the indoor water fight of 2008.
takashi hurried to grab the other soaker, sam, caught in the cross-fire grabbed a patio chair and backed takashi into the bathroom wherein he fell into the tub. Aya, mercifully hid all the electronics and newly acquired Japanese artifacts that shant want to be "soaked" and h and i retreated to my bedroom where we preceded to dig into our new supply of Swissotel amenities, located the shower caps and promptly put them on. Somewhere in there, Sam joined us and donned his own shower cap. we then searched for a combat weapon and could only come up with mike's netti pot which we took turns opening the door to the brigade of ss's and tossed at whomever may be close by. the only casualty being aya, whom h unwittingly doused. in the end, everyone and everything was covered in water and there were some sore mid regions from all the belly laughs.
so consider this a sincere, important blog tribute to the best wedding gift ever. we may have to break in the new house in a similar manner before we repaint. all are invited to join.

Your best enchilada party yet......I had forgotten about Sam playing lion-tamer with Takashi, until he brought it up earlier tonight. And my sincerest apologies go out to Aya for the Neti Pot soaking I semi-unwittingly bestowed upon her. I blame the champagne, it really was the only variable that was all that different from the parties before...I'd also like to blame the extreme belly laughing for the events that followed later in the evening - because it surely wasn't the tequila shots Takash and I snuck from the fridge.
And, of course, my thanks to Jim, Paul, and Deuce - I have never met you but I sure hope you are there for the Indoor Water Fight 2008 - New House Edition.

we should do that again. the Indoor Water Fight 2008 will be followed by the Outdoor Water Fight 2008.
Hahaha awesome! I just KNEW that those presents would turn out to be the best.
I think for a 2 year anniversary gift we need to get you water balloons! I think that would liven things up a bit
